Head of the Lakes Beekeeping Association

Sustainable Beekeeping through Education & Cooperation

Founded in 2019, The Head of the Lakes Beekeeping Association is a community driven organization of local beekeepers promoting and educating each other and others regarding sustainable beekeeping practices. This group invites all levels of experience of beekeepers in Northern Wisconsin and North East Minnesota.

Creating supportive and sustainable beekeeping in our region.

Beekeeping Education

Dr. Edward Burkett, Professor of Biology and UWS Apiary Manager at the
University of Wisconsin-Superior leads educational opportunities for aspiring or experienced beekeepers at our monthly meetings.

Cooperation for Success

We recognize the challenges faced by bees and beekeepers and work together to succeed as a group.  This includes local breeding, swarm control, and sharing of equipment when possible.

Community Outreach

With our organization’s mission always in mind, we strive to find new strategies for protecting local bees and creating awareness around the importance of pollinators to our food supply and ecosystems. We embrace opportunities for creating new advocates in our community by tabling or giving presentations.
