The Head of the Lakes Beekeeping Association believes in more sustainable beekeeping strategies that can best evolve when we work together. We believe that attendance at monthly meetings helps us do our best, and we’re committed to sharing our knowledge with others in our communities at other events throughout the year.

*** Join us the 2nd Thursday of the month at 6pm at the Richard I Bong Veterans Historical Center for our monthly meetings. Meet your fellow local and regional beekeepers to discuss management methods, honeybee biology, and all things honeybee!!!

Beginning Beekeeping Session: Basics of Beekeeping

Interested in becoming a beekeeper? The Basics of Beekeeping Workshop is a FREE, 1.5 hour workshop, open to the general public, on what it means to be a beekeeper. Taught by experienced beekeepers within the Head of the Lakes Beekeeping Association, this workshop will provide you with the general knowledge that all beginning beekeepers need to determine if becoming a beekeeper is right for you.

Beginning Beekeeping Session: Care for Honey Bees​​

So you have decided to become a beekeeper. This session is a, FREE, 1.5 hour workshops on how to raise and care for honey bees. Taught by experienced beekeepers within the Head of the Lakes Beekeeping Association, this workshop is designed to teach first year beekeepers how to care for their NEW honey bees. This will be more depth focusing on topics such as overwintering, honey and wax production, and swarm control.
